The Professor of the KFU: “Over the past 10 years, winter in Kazan has become warmer, and summer is hotter”

The reason for the temperature change is in the greenhouse effect, which implies the emission of greenhouse gases into the atmosphere.

(KZN.RU, June 18). The air temperature in Kazan in the second half of June will be above the norm by 2.5 degrees. Professor Yury Perevedentsev, the head of the Department of Meteorology, Climatology and Ecology of the atmosphere of the KFU, Ph. D.in Geographical Science, spoke at the press conference in the IA “Tatar-inform”. He said that tomorrow there will be 26-28 degrees above zero in the capital of the RT.

According to the speaker, over the past decades in Kazan winter has become warmer by 4.7 degrees, and summer by 2.2 degrees. All this leads to the fact that winter comes later in the capital of the RT, and spring is early. Changes in the temperature regime have a positive effect on agriculture, but at the same time the risk of cataclysms increases. “The reason for the temperature change is the greenhouse effect, which implies the release of greenhouse gases into the atmosphere. The phenomenon was first predicted in the 70s”, explained Y. Perevedentsev.

In general, summer in Kazan will be comfortable, a slight cooling will be expected in the second half of July, according to the speaker.
