A full range of operational and preventive measures aimed at preserving order and public safety during the New Year holidays allowed Kazan residents to celebrate the New Year without incidents. Not a single crime has occurred as a result of the measures taken in the sites of New Year celebration.
Alexey Sokolov, the head of the Ministry of Internal Affairs for Kazan, reported today at the Business Monday. Since the opening of the central Christmas trees, paired posts were on duty around-the-clock. They served as a guard for the public order and municipal employees were involved in the security. On New Year's Eve, service for the protection of order was carried by more than 500 officers of the administration and military personnel of the National Guard of the Russian Federation. The traffic police officers ensured traffic safety and parking of vehicles at the sites for festive events. 29 drivers were detained for drunk driving.
Divine services were held in the Orthodox churches of the city, dedicated to the Nativity of Christ. Almost 8000 people attended them. More than 200 city police officers provided public order protection, no violations of the rule of law have occurred.
From December 30 to January 8, 37 adolescents were identified on the street in public places unaccompanied by adults after the curfew. Their parents were brought to administrative responsibility.

In general, 320 crimes were registered during the New Year holidays, including 7 cases of causing bodily harm. More than 600 administrative protocols were drawn up for violation of administrative legislation, and 39 people were brought to administrative responsibility for violations of silence. In addition, 44 offenses of illicit drug trading and 33 in alcoholic beverages trading were identified. There are 742 accidents registered on the roads, including 34 accidents involving the injured, there are no dead cases.
More than 10 thousand violations were revealed using special technical means of photo and video fixation. 6750 administrative protocols were drawn up for violations of traffic rules. 6129 ones were made to drivers, 110 drivers were detained for drunk driving, reported A. Sokolov.
“Holidays were held without severe violations of law and order and public security. The control over the crime situation is maintained, the city police are working normally”, concluded the head of the Ministry of Internal Affairs for Kazan.
