Metropolitan Kirill of Kazan and Tatarstan will head the opening ceremony of the exhibition.
On July 20, the Kazan Diocese’s museum will open in the Kazan Bogoroditsky Monastery. The heart of the exhibition will be the authentic crosier of St. Gurius, the first archbishop of the Kazan diocese.
The opening of the museum is timed to the 10th anniversary of the formation of the Kazan Metropolis and the 443rd anniversary of the appearance of the Kazan Icon of the Mother of God. Metropolitan Kirill of Kazan and Tatarstan will head the ceremony, the Press Office of Tatarstan Ministry of Culture reports.
The museum will exhibit items and collections that testify to the life of Christians in the Middle Volga region in the VII–XX centuries. The exposition includes church vestments, liturgical utensils, books of the XVIII–XIX centuries, and a collection of handwritten books of the XX century in Church Slavonic, Kryashen and Udmurt languages, items telling about the spiritual resistance of believers in the conditions of persecution of the XX century. In addition to the crosier of St. Gurius, the exhibition will show personal belongings of Metropolitan Seraphim, Metropolitan Serapion and other valuable items.
The Pushkin Cultural Center, public organizations of Kryashen Kazan, the museum of Udmurt life of the village of Baldy-Knya of the Kukmorsky district participated in the creation of the museum exposition.
The opening of the museum will take place at 14:00 on Bolshaya Krasnaya st, 5.
