Kazan enters the top three in terms of wages among cities of million people

The average salary at large and medium-sized enterprises increased by 18% compared to last year

In the first eight months of 2025, average salaries at large and medium-sized enterprises of Kazan increased by 18% compared to the same period last year, reaching 105,300 rubles. Real wages adjusted for inflation as well and increased by 7%. According to Deputy Head of the Executive Committee, Ildar Shakirov, Kazan ranked third among cities with a population of over one million in terms of salaries during the first half of 2025. Yekaterinburg and Krasnoyarsk entered the top with higher average salaries.

“The average wage at industrial enterprises has significantly increased. We have reached and exceeded the 100,000 rubles’ mark. However, for small and medium-sized enterprises, the average salary of 38,000 shows that the grey market commission still has much work to do,” – said Ilsur Metshin.

The highest wages are typically found in the high-tech, financial, and economic sectors. Salaries in the scientific companies reach 145,000 rubles, while those in IT&C are 141,700 rubles. Financial industry salaries average 138,900 rubles. Workers in the production, distribution, and supply of electricity, gas, and water earn significantly more than the average city wage, which is 119,500 rubles. Wages in the social sector are smaller, with healthcare and social service workers earning 92,200 rubles and educational workers earning 74,000 rubles on average.

The average salary in the city is approximately 84,000 rubles, taking into account small business. In the first half of 2025, salaries in the small business sector were just over 39,000.
