The concept of renovation was presented to Ilsur Metshin and journalists
In autumn, the reconstruction of the Moskovsky Market will be completed in Kazan. One of the oldest markets in the city will become the first food hall in the capital of Tatarstan. Shopping malls, open kitchens and showrooms will occupy two floors. Half of the areas around the market will be designated for public recreation areas.
In the future, a green square with an amphitheater and wooden corners will be landscaped in the adjacent territory. The market is designed as a public site, therefore, various events will be held here. Ginza Project is engaged in the design of the Moskovsky Market, and DA Bureau is responsible for its architectural appearance.
“We have been preparing for reconstruction for a long time and have been looking for people who can bring a new level of gastronomy and commerce. Ginza Project, a holding company, own a famous Danilovsky Market in Moscow. There is no such example in Tatarstan. We are the next after Moscow to create a decent food market on this level,”- said Mayor Ilsur Metshin.
He reminded that the Chekhov Market will soon be renovated as well. The main building will be restored, and shopping malls and a multifunctional square with galleries will be built nearby. Kolhozny Market was renovated for the Millennium of Kazan, however according to the Mayor, it requires improvements.
Moskovsky Market on Usmanova Street in Kazan was opened in 1976 and since then has become the landmark of the district. The Yashlek metro station and several public transport stops are located nearby.
The building has not undergone a complete renovation in recent years, therefore it is planned to update all systems. New trade showcases and a veterinary laboratory are among the planned improvements. Work on the first stage of reconstruction is expected to be completed by autumn, marking the official opening of the newly renovated Moskovsky Market.
On the second floor, there will be a bistro with 300 seats. The space will be divided into 20 areas, with various cuisines. The project curators prefer non-chain restaurants and single-product concepts. On the ground floor, there will be shops selling farm products from Tatarstan and other regions.
The market's creative team has announced an open call for chefs from all over Russia. In addition, farmers, manufacturers, and local brands of clothes, accessories, ceramics, and decor are also welcome to become residents of this new place.
Next spring, investors plan to begin the second phase of reconstruction. This will affect the area adjacent to the market. Heated shopping arcades with a clothing market will be constructed here, as well as a fair area.
At least half of the space will be dedicated to public areas for recreation, leisure, and events. Between the metro station and the market, a small square with an amphitheater will be created for holding various activities. There will also be a playground, public vegetable garden, food truck area, as well as a bistro.
