The opening of the “KyshDaKar-Fest” in Kazan: a master class in cheese making and camel wool products

A street winter festival started in the capital of Tatarstan, where you can buy Christmas gifts and farm products.

(KZN.RU, December 29, Alsu Safina). Today, the festival “KyshDaKar-Fest” has opened on Peterburgskaya Street near the metro station “Ploshchad Tukaya” in Kazan. For the first time, an event of this format will be held in the capital of Tatarstan in the New Year holidays. It is popular in Europe, but so far new for Kazan. At the street winter festival, you can buy not only an original gift for family and friends, but also farm products. In total, “KyshDaKar-Fest” gathered about 30 participants.

New Year's music, colorful flags, and garlands create a special atmosphere of celebration, comfort and warmth in the heart of the city. As it turned out, the “KyshDaKar-Fest” includes many makers already beloved by citizens, participants of the gastronomic festival “Delicious Kazan”, which is popular among citizens and tourists.

There are a lot of local cheese makers at the fair. They will offer visitors to taste cheeses from cow, goat, and sheep milk, young and seasoned, with the addition of saffron, cilantro and other spices, French Camembert and Italian Cacciocavallo.

Today, a master class on cheese making was held at the opening. It was led by Sergey Cherkin, better known to all as VaSYRych, a guru of crafting cheese production, the first cheese-maker who opened a school of cheese-making in Tatarstan and is now successfully developing this area in Moscow. He told festival visitors how to make cheese at home. According to Sergey Cherkin, he held a master-class on the street in the winter for the first time. The made cheese he jokingly named “Morozko”.

Also at the festival, everyone will be able to watch the cooking of shurpa from kazylyk and taste this ancient Tatar national dish. The preparation of this dish requires the meat be wilted for six months.

In addition to cheeses, you can buy farm milk, sour milk products, traditional kaimak, kazylyk, cort, teas, pretzels, and donuts, which are sold at the fair. In the adjacent teremochek, they sell souvenirs with Christmas themes and numerous products made of camel wool.

A pleasant surprise was prepared for buyers. Everyone who purchases souvenirs and farm products will take part in a quiz, the winner of which will receive a basket with farm products.

Daria Sannikova, the director of the Committee for Tourism Promotion together with Artur Abdrashitov, the deputy chairperson of the State Committee of the RT for Tourism, visited the fairgrounds. She said that the action “Horse for a Friend” will be held as part of the event. On New Year's holidays, many Kazan citizens will be visited by friends and relatives from other cities, and together they can become participants in an unusual event. To do this, you need to take pictures from the festival, post them on social networks with a hashtag #Кышдакарфест. The winner will be determined on January 7 and receive 5 kg of dried horse meat.

The festival will continue on December 30 and 31, as well as on January 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, on Peterburgskaya Street between the mall “Koltso” and the Tatarstan hotel. Trade rows will work from 12 pm to 9 pm.
