The Mayor of Kazan inspected the progress of the renovation of the school food hall
The school canteen at school №146 in Kazan is currently undergoing a renovation. This is one of 12 school food halls where a large-scale renovation of the cooking and dining areas will take place this summer. The Mayor of Kazan Ilsur Metshin personally inspected the progress of the renovation work.
“Thirteen years ago, school № 146 was the first to introduce a project of the school restaurant, which was very popular among children, parents, and teachers. After 13 years, we returned to the school for renovation. Since 2019, 158 school canteens have been renovated. This year, work is underway in 12 catering units,”- said Ilsur Metshin.
A key innovation will be the introduction of “transparent production”: the flour, salad and meat shops will be separated by glass walls, allowing students to see the entire process in the kitchen via five television screens installed in the dining area, providing a clear view of the workflow.
The production area will be equipped with new and modern equipment, including a hydraulic lifting table, electric industrial fryer, boiler washing machine, and tunnel dishwasher.
The hall with 240 seats will be decorated in an eco-friendly style. Muted colors in the decoration of the walls and furniture, as well as wooden interior elements and stylized plants, will create an atmosphere that is in harmony with nature.
A competition to find a name for the renovated restaurant took place among students and parents. The winner reflected the eco-philosophy – “Urman - ecology of taste”.
The eco-conception of the school restaurant aims to promote a culture of sustainable consumption. Students can choose their own lunch and the portion size from the menu.
