Fr om June 1 to July 15, the reservation and monitoring center for accommodation facilities and a round-the-clock hotline for the World Cup were operating in Kazan on the basis of the Committee for the Tourism Promotion. In total about 700 calls were received by hotline for the period of the championship, said Daria Sannikova, the director of the committee, at the Business Monday.
Most often, tourists asked questions about transport logistics, accommodation in the city, and the purchase of tickets for matches. About 70% of those applying for the hotline were Russian citizens, and 30% were foreign tourists, mostly Hispanics and Iranian citizens.
During the World Football Championship, about 300 thousand tourists visited Kazan. 65% of the total number were foreigners.
Mobile embassies of the countries, whose teams played at the Kazan Arena, have been operating for the fans during this period in the days of matches and the day after the games in Kazan. A special mobile audio guide in Russian, Tatar, English, Spanish, and Chinese were aimed at presenting the city to the tourists.
There were various events in the days of the World Cup in Kazan. For example, about 12 thousand people visited the festival “Gastronomic Map of Russia” on July 6 wh ere they could taste different national dishes. The restaurateurs of the city noted an increase in demand for dishes of the Tatar cuisine by 20-30%. There were also culinary records in the days of the championship: the biggest chak-chak weighing more than 4 tons, a peremaych weighing 26 kg, and a football field of wraps weighing 60 kg.
