During the New Year holidays, about 200 thousand residents and guests of the city visited the ice town near the Family Center “Kazan” where the main city tree was installed. Azat Abzalov, the head of the Department of Culture of Kazan, announced this today at the briefing in the Cabinet of Ministers of the RT. </p> <p> </p> <p> During the New Year holidays, mass events were held every day. The ice town became one of the most favorite recreation spots of Kazan and guests of the city. “This site is new for us, we inherited it from the World Cup. Now we can say confidently that this place is most conveniently located, the number of visitors proves that”, said Azat Abzalov. He noted that the number of visitors to the town will grow since there will be an event dedicated to the Old New Year. The holiday program starts here at 1 pm on January 13. </p> <p> </p> <p> In general, the festivities were held on 60 Christmas sites in each district of Kazan. According to the speaker, this year Kazan’s New Year events were bright, diverse and designed for all ages. Within the conceptual program “Winter in Parks”, about 140 festive events were organized in 19 public spaces of the city such as concerts, master classes, fairs, and sports tournaments. </p> <p> </p> <p> The organizers took into account the opinion of Kazan citizens themselves in drawing up the celebration program. Azat Abzalov called the parade of Ded Morozs one of the most memorable events. The citizens became not just spectators but also participants of the mass procession of fairy-tale characters. In addition, the felt boots championship, the snowball tournament, the Kazan sled festival took place in the Kazan parks. </p> <p> </p> <p> The cultural institutions of Kazan were popular during the New Year holidays as well. About 20 thousand people visited museums, concert halls, and libraries. About 50 thousand people visited the Kazan Kremlin, which was also a favorite vacation site. </p> <p> </p> <p> At the end of his speech, the speaker noted that the festivities in public spaces and in cultural institutions will be continued in Kazan until the Old New Year. </p>
