An open-air office, workout equipment for disabled, and a recreation area with lamps: one of the largest yards in Kazan has been renovated

Today, Mayor Ilsur Metshin got acquainted with the implementation of the republican program

The landscaping of the largest yard in the Sovetsky city district with an area of over 50,200 square meters has been completed in Kazan. An outdoor office area with tables and chairs has been equipped there. Instead of traditional asphalt, tiles have been laid here. A sports ground with a football pitch and workout equipment is accessible for disabled people.

«We have improved two thirds of the Kazan yards under the program of the Rais (head) of Tatarstan Rustam Minnikhanov. This year, the program has been extended, so many more Kazan residents can expect similar conditions. The city is being improved due to the hard work and dedication of its residents», – said Mayor Ilsur Metshin.

Landscaping work was carried out at 13, 13a, 15 and 17 Karbysheva Street and 18 R. Zorge Street. The work began in May and by now, the area has been completely transformed.

«To add comfort, we used tiles instead of the asphalt pavement during the landscaping of the yard. Besides, tiles are more efficient and can easily be opened if it is necessary to work with utility networks. While the cost of the material is the same, the work took a little longer, so the landscaping work lasted until October, but the result was completely different», – said Mayor Ilsur Metshin.

In addition, 5,000 square meters of asphalt have been repaired in the yard, as well as the intra-block driveways and a road along Karbysheva Street. The number of parking spaces has increased to 199, and new swings, hammocks, climbing and rope complexes have appeared on the playground.

New benches and urns have been installed, and 101 lighting poles have been connected, outdoor lamps will also decorate the territory. «I lived on Latyshskih Strelkov Street in 1995 and remember walking along this street at night, it was pitch dark then. So, the difference between then and now is enormous», – said the Mayor.

On behalf of the head of the city, a mural was painted on the front of a house on Zorge Street to commemorate the 100^th anniversary of the construction industry in Tatarstan. The mural shows the story of three key events: the Tankodrome, a Soviet district, and the life of military engineer and Hero of the Soviet Union Dmitry Karbyshev.

This work is supported not only by the republican program but also by local businesses. Thanks to their support, 110 trees were pruned or removed, and 190 new trees and 250 shrubs were planted. A lawn was also created on an area of 18,000 square meters.

For reference, the Our Yard program has covered 459 apartment buildings in Kazan this year, benefiting approximately 100,000 citizens.
