The building will house the National Library of the RT.
(KZN.RU, March 12, Alena Miroshnichenko). In the year of the celebration of the 100th anniversary of the TASSR founding, the National Library of the RT will open. It will unfold at the site of the renewed National Cultural Center “Kazan”. Irada Ayupova, the head of the department, told reporters today at the business brunch in the Ministry of Culture. She noted that Rustam Minnikhanov, the President of the RT, gave the relevant instructions on the timing of the cultural object opening.
The fate of the NCC has been of interested for the Kazan public for a long time. Last fall, Rustam Minnikhanov, the President of the RT, announced the start of reconstruction of the NCC “Kazan” building to accommodate it in the future of the National Library of the RT. “The library is also a cultural center. The concept of space organization is now incorporated in the project of placing the national library at the NCC site. According to it, we will have places for thematic discussions, large areas for open access where people can communicate with each other. The concept is more focused on the space for communications and capitalization”, I. Ayupova explained the decision of the head of the republic.
The participants of the brunch also raised the issue of relocating the Museum of the Kazan 1000th anniversary, which was earlier located at the NCC site. At a meeting with the President of the RT, it was decided to create a new city museum in an empty building in Kazan on Bauman Street, №3. The building of the former city magistrate is an object of cultural heritage.
“The collection will organically fit into the building of the former city magistrate. The project should be modified in such a way that it can fully reflect the artifacts in this collection and the historical mission that was laid during the creation of the museum”, noted the minister of Culture of the RT.
The former building of the National Library of the RT (Ushkov’s Mansion on Kremlevskaya Street) will have to be restored, after which it will remain at the disposal of the library. Irada Ayupova added that the building needs restoration.
