The capital of the republic of Tatarstan topped the ranking of Russian cities in terms of increase of outdoor advertising last year
In the capital of Tatarstan, the outdoor advertising market grew to a record 2.2 billion rubles in 2024, which is 56% more compared to the previous year. Over the past 10 years, the market has grown three and a half times. Kazan has become the leader among Russian cities with a millions –plus population, surpassing Yekaterinburg, Novosibirsk, and Nizhny Novgorod in terms of market volume. This was reported by Askar Bagautdinov, head of the Outdoor Advertising and Information Department of the Kazan Executive Committee at the Business Monday meeting.
«This 56% increase in the outdoor advertising market is very impressive. It reflects the city's investment attractiveness. It shows the interest of advertisers and clearly demonstrates the stability of Kazan's financial market», – said Ilsur Metshin, the Mayor of Kazan.
A modern advertising infrastructure is actively being formed in Kazan. Currently, there are 1,304 permits for the installation and operation of advertising structures in the city.
Transition to digital technologies has become a key trend in recent years. The geography of digital advertising structures has significantly expanded. Today, Kazan has 28 media facades, 159 digital billboards, and 13 large-scale structures – supersites and superboards.
The growth of digital formats is not due to an increase in the number of locations, but rather to the replacement of traditional media with digital media within existing structures. This is a significant development that shows the potential of new technologies. The head of the city stated: «The market is expanding thanks to the power of digital advertising platforms, rather than simply through an increase in ad placements».
