The tour of the world-famous circus starts in the capital of Tatarstan on May 23.
(KZN.RU, May 18). From 23 to 27 of May, the famous Canadian Cirque du Soleil will perform with the show OVO in Kazan. Spectators will live a whole day in a colony of volatile, extremely curious, dangerous, and beautiful inhabitants of the insect world.
The performance has already been shown in St. Petersburg. These days artists perform in Moscow. In addition to Kazan, the show will visit Togliatti, Yekaterinburg, and Sochi. The OVO became the 25th show of Cirque du Soleil, which premiered in 2009 in Montreal when the company celebrated its 25th anniversary. The circus was looking for an idea for its anniversary show. The colony of insects that populated its motley universe was an ideal embodiment of the concept of harmonious coexistence of a wide variety of species. The work of Deborah Kolker, the director and choreographer, was able to give the world of beetles and spiders grace and charm.
The OVO explores not only the theme of nature, the plasticity of insects and acrobatics, but also the idea of accepting “otherness”, which is so usual for the Cirque du Soleil. The whole staff represents almost 50 countries and speaks 25 languages.
For the first time, the Cirque du Soleil brings to Russia a show that is ideal for children. According to Natalia Romanova, the general director of Cirque du Soleil in Russia, children will love the game of characters, bright colors, Brazilian music and fast acrobatics, and parents will appreciate the skills, perfection of costumes, and live musical performance.
According to the idea of the show's authors, giant elements of scenography are a nine-meter flower, an egg 8.5 meters long, a wall that serves as a projection screen “flooded” with a macro-image of a miniature forest. It will confuse perspective, and the viewer can feel like a tiny ant, part of a microcosm that is barely visible for its miniature size, but still interesting and entertaining.
Performances in Kazan will take place in the “Tatneft-Arena”, reports the press service of Cirque du Soleil in Russia.
