The monument features a digital screen with image of the Games’ logo-the mythical dragon Zilant.

A monument with a countdown clock counting the days to the opening of Special Olympics World Winter Games was erected on Baumana Street in Kazan. The opening ceremony, celebrating the 200 days countdown to the Games, was attended by Tatarstan Minister of Sports Vladimir Leonov, the head of the Executive Committee of Kazan Rustem Gafarov, Egor Lebedev - Director General of the Special Olympics Russia, the Special Olympics athlete-leader Alexander Gustyakov and others.

The monument features the digital screen with image of the Games’ logo-a mythical dragon Zilant. In the middle of the clock, there is a screen with the logo of Special Olympics and showing the number of days to the kickoff, the Press Office of the Tatarstan Ministry of Sports reports.

“It is symbolic that we opened this monument exactly 8 years after the kickoff of the 2013 Universiade, which was also held in Kazan. We hope that tourists will come to us already as spectators of Special Olympics,”- Vladimir Leonov said and added that preparations for Special Olympics are well underway.

For reference, Special Olympics World Winter Games will be held in Kazan on January 22-28, 2022.
