In Kazan, the lighting will be repaired and replaced at three metro stations

Metroelectrotrans enterprise has been awarded the National Award «Transport Safety of Russia»

In 2025, the renovation works and replacement lighting will be carried out at three metro stations in Kazan. Aidar Abdulkhakov, Director of the Metroelectrotrans enterprise, informed the mayor of Kazan about these plans during a report on the results of work in 2024.

Last year, repairs were carried out at several stations: heating systems were restored, as well as door closers replaced. As many as 754 new lamps were installed in the tunnels, more than 450 new lamps were also installed on platforms. The replacement of lamps with energy-efficient ones has been carried out since 2023. Additionally, 116 heat curtains in the metro were restored.

The installation of new wheel sets on three electric trains has been completed – 80 sets were purchased in 2023 with the support of the Rais (Head) of Tatarstan Rustam Minnikhanov. In total, 5 trains have received new wheel sets. The trains were painted according to new designs. A painting site was organized in the electric depot, for which equipment was purchased.

Over one hundred video surveillance cameras were installed at the company's expense at all metro stations and a transport security control center went into operation. Dispatchers work around the clock at the facilities.

Aidar Abdulkhakov reminded that Metroelectrotrans won the award in the category «Best Enterprise of Transport Infrastructure» at the annual National Transport Safety Award «Transport Security of Russia – 2024». One of the inspectors, Nadezhda Gerasimova, received an award «Personal contribution to implementing a system of transport security measures».

Presently, construction of the first section of the second metro line is underway. Four new stations are scheduled to open in 2027.
