The first in Kazan face-recognition system will work at the metro station “Dubravnaya”

New equipment was installed in the Kazan metro and personnel were certified by the World Cup-2018.

(KZN.RU, April 26, Ekaterina Vislavskaya). The Dubravnaya metro station will have a video surveillance system with the face recognition function necessary to ensure the safety of passengers. Asfan Galyavov, the general director of the MUP “Metroelectrotrans”, told about the preparation of the Kazan metro to receive guests of the World Cup-2018 to journalists during a press tour. He said that everything will be taken into account in it: intro-scopes, frames, radio-suppressing and radiation-determining equipment.

The design capacity of 11 stations is 220 thousand people per day. Now 10 stations are open, and from 100 to 115 thousand people use the metro every day. Passenger traffic will increase by another 5-6 thousand people with the introduction of a new station. “Dubravnaya” will be equipped with vending machines for the purchase of tokens and travel cards, which work by bank transfer via bank cards and smartphones as well. The traditional ticket offices are replaced with terminals. The management of the metro decided two tasks at once: coped with the shortage of cashiers and equipped the metro with the latest technology. Now every station has only one cashier, whose task is to sell souvenir tokens. Externally, such tokens differ from ordinary ones only by the color, but they cannot be used for a ride. The enterprise purchased 100 thousand tokens, of which more than 30 thousand were sold since the beginning of the year. “Previously, we have been losing about 200 tokens per day”, said Asfan Galyavov. “We left the outflow of our main tokens. They cost about 72 rubles, and these tokens – 25 rubles. So we sell them for the same price”.

According to A. Galyavov, in general, the stations are ready for the guests' meeting. Each one is provided with a full set of inspection equipment: radiation monitoring systems, a radio interference suppression system for controlling explosive devices, explosion proof containers, intro-scopes, passenger inspection equipment, arched metal detectors, as well as CCTV cameras. Law enforcement officers are on duty. The metro has a comprehensive fire safety system, a situational center has been created to transfer information from CCTV cameras of metro stations and ground electric vehicles, satellite navigation systems, train radio communications, dispatching and administrative and economic communications. One of the innovations of this year is that all the metro employees have been certified as security forces. They know how to behave in order to prevent a terrorist act, and act in case of an unforeseen situation. “There will be a lot of strengthening for the World Cup. The police, and we will work harder together. All people are trained and have passed the safety certification”, said the head of the “Metroelectrotrans”. “Every tent, entrance, and exit will be guarded from the outside. We will have 200 people working in the anti-terrorist security service”.

The members of the organizing committee, sports delegations, referees, media representatives, volunteers, and fans who have tickets to the matches will use all types of public transport for free during the days of training and competition. The mode of metro operation will remain the same: from 5 am to 12 am. The interval of train traffic will also remain the same: 5 minutes 31 seconds. There is an English speaking employee in each hall, which will help guests navigate in one of the main transport arteries of Kazan. All stations have navigation in three languages: Russian, Tatar, and English.
