The traditional cleaning of burial sites in cemeteries will be postponed to a later time.
All Kazan churches will be closed for parishioners at Easter. The ban on visiting churches from April 14 until the improvement in the sanitary and epidemiological situation is prescribed in the decree of the Tatarstan Cabinet of Ministers.
Metropolitan Feofan of Kazan and Tatarstan addressed to believers to “accept this resolution for execution”. “We, the believers, should accept this decree with understanding and prudence, as law-abiding citizens, though with sorrow in our hearts. It is not easy for me to tell you this, because it is Holy Week, and the Easter eve. But due to the spread of the deadly danger of coronavirus infection, in order to avoid an outbreak of this disease and severe consequences, and even death, we must avoid visiting churches and stay home during these days of sorrow and sadness and during the days of Easter joy,”- Metropolitan Feofan addressed the clergy and community of the Kazan diocese. He noted that the main liturgy will be broadcast on television and the Internet, where everyone can participate in the common prayer.
For notice, until the improvement of sanitary and epidemiological situation, visiting cemeteries is prohibited to local citizens, except attending the funeral. Accordingly, the traditional cleaning of burial sites in cemeteries during this period will have to be postponed to a later time.
