The 2nd UNESCO International Music Festival took place in Kirsehir (Turkey), where Yekaterina Bobrova from Kazan performed. Turkey. A student of the O.Lundstrom Music School performed the jazz standard Maceo Pinkard on lyrics by Kenneth Casey “Sweet Georgia Brown”.
The Vice-Mayor of Kazan Evgenia Lodvigova took part in the festival. Evgenia Lodvigova spoke about close relations of Kazan with Turkish cities. The Vice-Mayor noted that the capital of the republic of Tatarstan is famous for its musical and cultural traditions. In support of this, musicians from Kazan performed at the festival.
The festival was held from 12 to 14 July. It kicked off with the passage of participants along the streets of Kirsehir. The parade was attended by disabled musicians. Turkish singer Sura Iskenderli, as well as folk music performers Veli Ertas and Fatma Aydogan performed at the festival. They performed lyrical songs and played dance melodies of the province of Kirsehir.
The festival has become a real holiday for the participants. The purpose of the event was to highlight the contribution of culture and creativity to the sustainable development of cities, as well as to bring together members of the UNESCO Creative Cities Network (UCCN).
For reference, Kazan joined the UCCN in 2019. Since then, representatives of the city have been actively participating in international music festivals and concerts, exchanging knowledge, establishing contacts with other cities.
