World No Tobacco Day will be celebrated on Bauman Street in Kazan

Citizens will be able to exchange cigarettes for the opportunity to shoot paint from paintball equipment.

(KZN.RU, May 29). World No Tobacco Day will be celebrated on pedestrian Bauman Street in Kazan. Citizens will be able to exchange cigarettes for the opportunity to shoot paint from paintball equipment. Medical volunteers will talk about the dangers of smoking and conduct a survey of the population.

The action will take place on the territory next to the Shalyapin hotel from 12 pm to 2 pm, reports the Tatarstan regional branch of the All-Russian Public Movement “Medical Volunteers”.

World No Smoking Day was established by the World Health Organization in 1988. Today it is included in the UN system of the world and international days.

According to WHO, about 7 million people die from the “tobacco epidemic” in the world annually. More than 800 thousand of them are passive smokers. In Russia, about 300 thousand people die prematurely from causes related to smoking each year. This is more than from traffic accidents, drug use or AIDS. According to statistics, about 40% of the population in our country smoke.
