This year, 12 thousand people will take part in the Kazan Marathon. As of today, the organizers have already accepted applications from more than 10 thousand people from 17 countries. Among them are the champion of Russia in the marathon and half marathon Fyodor Shutov, the winner and runner–up of the racing events Alexandra Morozova. The organizers told about the specifics of the marathon and innovations at a press conference in the Tatar-Inform news agency.
The Kazan Marathon is scheduled for 14 -15 May 2022. On the first day, children's starts, slider races and a 3 km race will take place. On Sunday, May 15, there will be races for a marathon distance of 42.2 km and a half marathon distance of 21.1 km, as well as a race for a distance of 10 km. On the same day, the Russian Championship for motor disable people will take place at a distance of 42.2 km.
It is expected that more than 12 thousand racing fans will participate in the event, 70% of them from other cities of Russia and from abroad. More than 3,000 participants applied for participation in the most popular distance – 21.1 km, and about 2,700 athletes have registered for the marathon. Also among the popular remains the 3 km race. Registration of participants will continue until May 8 on the official website.
Traditionally, a scenic route has been chosen for the Kazan Marathon, which has passed official certification. Marathon’s participants will run along the Kremlin, the Kazan Family Center, the Millennium Bridge, the Kremlin Dam and the embankment.
This year, the official status was given to the traditional race for motor disabled people at a distance of 42.2 km. Now the competition has the status of the Russian Championship. “About 15 athletes will participate, among them the national champion in this category will be announced”, - said Vadim Yangirov, director of the Timerman sports events.
The organizers pay great attention to the safety of the participants. Athletes with health insurance and certificates are allowed to compete in the race. There will be health workers and police on the route.
