(KZN.RU, August 16). Today, a ceremony of rolling out a modernized missile-bomber “Tu-22M3M” to the flight test station was held at the Kazan aviation plant (KAP) named after Gorbunov. Rustam Minnikhanov, the President of the RT, assessed the first prototype of the finalized menace of aircraft carriers.
Oleg Bocharov, the deputy minister of Industry and Trade of the Russian Federation, Sergey Kobylash, the Commander of the Long-Range Aviation of the Air and Space Forces of Russia, Ilsur Metshin, the Mayor of Kazan, and others also attended the presentation.
In his welcome speech, Rustam Minnikhanov noted that the Kazan Aviation Plant is undergoing a positive transformation nowadays. A lot of work is underway to modernize the facilities and the production.
“There were times when we came to this plant to solve some complicated problems related to its future prospects. Today we can say confidently that the Kazan Aviation Plant is a modern enterprise with a good perspective”, added the President of the RT.
The President marked that the modernized missile bomber “Tu-22M3M” is in demand by defense structures, reports the press service of the head of the republic.
Rustam Minnikhanov expressed his gratitude to Vladimir Putin, the President of Russia, for special attention to strengthening the defense capability of the Russian Federation.
Until 1993, the Kazan plant produced more than 200 of these aircraft. According to the Ministry of Defense of the Russian Federation, the “Tu-22M3M” for a number of indicators far exceeds its predecessor “Tu-22M2”. It is capable of developing a maximum speed of up to 2.3 thousand km/h with an increased tactical range of action of 14-45% and combat effectiveness, carrying both missiles and bombs simultaneously. The upgraded “Tu-22M3M” is equipped with a new avionics, which expands its flight and combat capabilities.
