A protocol of intent to establish friendly relations between Kazan and Xi'an was signed

The document provides for cooperation in trade, economy, culture, education, health, sports and other areas.

Today, a protocol of intent to establish friendly relations was signed between the capital of the Republic of Tatarstan and the Chinese city of Xi’an at the Kazan City Hall. The document was signed by the deputy head of Kazan municipality Evgenia Lodvigova and Vice-mayor of the People's government of Xi’an Ma Xianping.

Welcoming the guests, Evgenia Lodvigova noted that the meeting of representatives of the two cities takes place in the year of the 70th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between China and Russia. “The history of interaction with each city is different, the most successful cooperation in the field of education, culture, innovative technologies, tourism and preservation of cultural heritage", - said E. Lodvigova.

The Vice-mayor of Kazan also noted that the city regularly hosts international events. This year, the capital of Tatarstan hosted the WorldSkills Kazan 2019 championships, during the closing ceremony the mayor of Shanghai was handed the flag of the championship of working professions. International events in Kazan will continue next year – in June, the capital of Tatarstan will host the world conference "League of historical cities", in 2020 Kazan will host the summit of young diplomats of the BRICS countries. “Taking this opportunity, I would like to invite you to the upcoming events, this experience will be useful for both sides”, – E.Lodvigova addressed the members of the delegation.

In her turn, the Vice-mayor of the People's government of Xi'an Ma Xianping thanked the host party for the meeting.

Speaking about the prospects for the development of Kazan and Xi’an, Ma Xianping noted that cooperation could be established between the cities. “Our educational resources are rich, there are more than 84 educational institutions in Xi'an, where more than 1 million students study, and we hope for further development of the students exchange between the cities. I also hope that in the future Kazan and Xi'an will be able to establish cooperation in the field of culture and tourism, so that the citizens of our cities can appreciate the unique natural landscapes, historical monuments and rich culture and history”, – Ma Xianping said.

Following the meeting, the parties signed a protocol of intent to establish friendly relations.
