The mayors discussed the holding of the final of the National Championship “Young Professionals”, as well as the entry of Veliky Novgorod into the AVC.
(KZN.RU, May 21, Alena Miroshnichenko). Ilsur Metshin, the Mayor of Kazan, met today with Sergei Busurin, the head of Veliky Novgorod. Participants discussed the holding of the final stage of the National Championship “Young Professionals (WorldSkills Russia)”, as well as the entry of Veliky Novgorod into the Association of Volga Cities (AVC). The chairman of the AVC is Ilsur Metshin.
The Novgorod delegation, headed by Sergey Busurin, took part in the opening of the final stage of the National Championship “Young Professionals (WorldSkills Russia)” the day before. Veliky Novgorod will take the final of the national championship in 2021. “We came to see learn the way of organizing the championship”, said Sergey Busurin.
The Mayor of Kazan noted that Kazan also adopted the experience of colleagues in preparing for holding large events. “Like people are not born with the ability to sing and dance, so the cities and their mayors do not know how major events are held at the beginning. All take the experience of others. We did this during the preparation for the Universiade, while colleagues from other cities told and showed us everything. Therefore, the best option is to see everything with your own eyes”, marked Ilsur Metshin. He added that holding the WorldSkills national championship for Kazan is “an opportunity to make everything perfect for the world competition”.
One of the topics of discussion was the entry of Veliky Novgorod into the Association of Volga Cities. The Novgorod Oblast has unique transportation and geographical position. The main roads, railways, air and water transport lines pass through its territory, connecting St. Petersburg and Moscow. However, the air service between Kazan and Veliky Novgorod is absent today. Velikiy Novgorod can be reached from Kazan by train with a transfer in Moscow, St. Petersburg or Nizhny Novgorod.
The issue of tourism development in Veliky Novgorod was also discussed at the meeting. Thus, with a population of 224 thousand people, 600 thousand tourists come here every year. Sergey Busurin noted that now their goal is 1 million tourists annually. Last year Kazan was visited by 3 million 200 thousand tourists.
Lyudmila Andreeva, the deputy head of the Kazan Municipality, deputy heads of the administration of Veliky Novgorod Irina Kormanovskaya and Alexander Matyunin also attended the meeting.
