Teachers working with children with disabilities will share their experience at the “Teacher of the Year” Awards.
From the new school year in Kazan, a grant competition “The Best Inclusive School” will be launched with a prize fund of 4.5 million rubles. Teachers working with children with disabilities will be able to share their experience at the annual “Teacher of the Year” Awards. The Mayor of the capital of Tatarstan Ilsur Metshin announced this at the August City Conference of education workers.
As of today, there are 1,011 disabled disabilities and 703 children with development disabilities at Kazan schools, 655 groups have been opened in kindergartens for more than 10 thousand children in various nosologies. The city should be accessible and comfortable to all residents, including residents with disabilities, I.Metshin stressed.
I.Metshin reminded that at a meeting of the Kazan City Duma, deputies decided to develop a program for renovation resource classes and improving the skills of teachers working with children with disabilities. “From the new school year, such teachers will be able to share their experience at the traditional Teacher of the Year Award”, - the head of the city said.
This year, more than 1 thousand Kazan teachers who work with children with disabilities have undergone additional training, said Irek Rizvanov, head of the Department of Education. “Teachers are already practicing the acquired knowledge and skills during the educational process”, - he said.
In addition, in the new school year in Kazan it is planned to launch a grant competition “The Best Inclusive School” with a prize fund of 4.5 million rubles. Schools will be able to allocate funds for training and retraining of teaching staff, as well as for improving the infrastructure.
Ilsur Metshin stressed that inclusion is important both for special children and for other children, because this allows developing empathy and friendship. For the seventh year, all Kazan first-graders have been keeping a Diary of Good Deeds, which motivates schoolchildren to help others. “This is an excellent cure for selfishness, which has infected more than one generation today”, - the Mayor said. According to him, kindness, compassion, caring are important personality traits to maintain and develop from childhood.
In spring, “Fairs of Kindness” took place in Kazan, where students and parents raised almost 5 million rubles. The funds were allocated to help disabled children, veterans, refugees, kindergartens and shelters for homeless animals.
This year, for the first time, a Paw of Friendship campaign was organized to foster a caring and responsible attitude to animals. The jury selected 23 prizewinners in five nominations, the winners received grants in the amount of 50 to 200 thousand rubles. “They will implement their projects, but our main common victory will be a city of Kazan, where every homeless animal will find a new home”, - Ilsur Metshin emphasized.
“We want to make Kazan a city of good deeds and people”, - the head of the city summed up.
