The Mayor of Kazan urged for organizing the mandatory separate waste collection in all municipal institutions

<p> (KZN.RU, May 20, Alena Miroshnichenko). One of the main tasks for Kazan for the current year remains the implementation of a project for the widespread introduction of separate garbage collection, sorting and recycling. Ilsur Metshin, the Mayor of the capital of Tatarstan, reminded about it today at the Business Monday in the Executive Committee. He urged the heads of departments, agencies, MUPs to organize a separate waste collection. </p> <p> The Kazan Executive Committee has released a new poster telling about the rules for sorting garbage. Today the Mayor presented it to his colleagues. “We tell our residents about the separate collection of waste in an accessible form, in general, this work is already underway”, said I. Metshin. </p> <p> The last week’s meeting of the city headquarters was devoted to the introduction of separate collection of municipal solid waste. The next meeting will raise the topic of separate garbage removal. “There are many issues, because we are one of the pilot cities that have taken on this task”, he said. </p> <p> The pilot project for the implementation of a separate collection of municipal waste started in the capital of Tatarstan in the summer of 2018. At the initial stage, 109 container sites of the Aviastroitelny district were equipped with 428 containers for recyclable and non-recyclable waste. As a result, the volume of removal of municipal solid waste to landfill was reduced by 30-35%. Today, 47% of the housing stock in Kazan is transferred to separate waste collection. In total, 878 sites are equipped with containers for dual garbage collection. </p>
