“Today we have almost 500 hectares of landscaped territory – this is a great benefit for residents, which transforms not only the ecology, but also the mentality of people”, - Ilsur Metshin, the Mayor of Kazan, said today at the Business Monday.

New sections of the Kazanka embankment, bike parking and new plants on the Kaban embankment

In 2021, two new landscaped sections of the river embankment were opened - from GIMS to the Kremlevskaya Dam and the section between Tatarstan National Library and the Millennium Bridge. A 4 km long promenade with a picturesque view was created, Igor Kulyazhev, deputy head of the Executive Committee, reminded in his speech.

The project of new sections of the Kazanka Embankment was awarded the Russian National Award for Landscape Architecture in the category “The best public space with an area of more than 5 hectares”.

This year, large-scale work on the implementation of the first two stages of the improvement of the embankment of Lake Nizhny Kaban, which began in 2017, has been completed. As I.Kulyazhev reminded, the landscaping area was 89 hectares.

New sites: the second life of the Chaikovye Lakes and the park at Salavat Kupere

New public spaces are also opening in the city. By the Day of the City, a park was opened near the Maloe Chaikovoe Lake, located near the city clinical hospital No. 7 on Marshal Chuikov Street. Since the park is located near the hospital, it has various functional zones aimed at the rehabilitation of patients.

It should be noted that the project of the Chaikovoe Lake Park won the III Healthy Cities of Russia contest, taking first place in the nomination “The best project for the development of physical activity among the population”.

In addition, a new park is under construction in the Salavat Kupere residential complex.

“This is the first public space within walking distance from residential buildings in an area with a population of more than 30 thousand people, - I.Kulyazhev stressed. -The park will host various events and will allow developing of infrastructure and small businesses”.

Another landmark event of this year is a start of project work on the improvement of the territory near the Bolshoe Goluboe Lake as part of the creation of the eco-cluster “Mirrors of Tatarstan”.

Renovation of Tolstoy square and the continuation of work at the Chernoe Lake Park

This year, the reconstruction of Tolstoy Square located in the historical part of Kazan was carried out, the Creative Group under the Mayor’s Office developed this project.

In addition, the reconstruction of the Black Lake Park is being completed, where there was a need to replace navigation and install additional small architectural forms on the playground.

In addition, a memorial plaque was installed in the Pobedy Park on Yamasheva Ave. in memory of warriors from Tatarstan who died in Afghanistan, deputy head of the Executive Committee reminded.

This year, six improvement projects were implemented under the federal project “Creation of a comfortable urban environment” in Kazan.

“Thanks to Tatarstan President Rustam Minnikhanov for the project on the improvement of public spaces. Significant financial funds were allocated to parks, squares, embankments – I.Metshin said. – It is very important to have recreational areas for playing sports and a healthy lifestyle”.
