The Mayor of Kazan evaluated the creation of the library of new generation on Clara Tsetkin street

There will be interior-transformer with «habitable» window sills, book labyrinths, electronic catalogue, and cafe here.

(KZN.RU, March 26, Ksenia Shvetsova). Renovation work of the library №26 on 11 Clara Tsetkin street was checked today by Ilsur Metshin, the Mayor of Kazan. To the beginning of summer season the library of new generation first in the city will be equipped here which will have the book depository and modern social space. The library located in Admiralty sloboda will be filled up by specific book stock about ship-building history.

The children's library №26 was opened in the building on Clara Tsetkin street in 1977, and soon there were the library for grown-ups in this building. Now the renovation work has been going on well under way - the old book depository is reconstructed to modern library with modernised equipment and new approaches. Architectural project of future library was developed by creative group «Arkhdesant». Initially, the library had 400 sq. meters of surface, but due to unusual interior decisions, it has been increased. So, adjacent to the reading room, there will be two big glazed loggias with cosy space and a great view of the streets. As a whole the library will increase by 40 sq. metres.

As Ruslan Gilmanov, the architect of the project, told, initially the lay-out of the library was the standard form and provided 2 separate entrances - to children's and grown-up blocks. After reconstruction the library will have a uniform entrance to big corridor-gallery where the open book-depository will be organised. The corridor will connect all spaces of the library. «We used a very clear, intuitive lay-out to let people walk on their own independently and not to lose the way, - explains Ruslan Gilmanov. - As for design, we tried to make a modern space without superfluous scenery and elements, in order not to distract of the readers. There will be a bar rack in the hall where you can simply sit and have a drink some coffee».

Moreover, there will be the system of cataloguing convenient for visitors in the library: each book is planned to be marked by the chip and introduced to electronic catalogue, due to it readers will be able to take books independently. Visitors will be able to search for and even to order determined books with a computer or a smartphone.

The project provides the opportunity of interior transformation under different necessities - lecturing, creative meetings, and so on. For these cases it is planned to use a modular folding furniture. «An important point in the interior of this library is «habitable» window sills where everyone will be able just to sit and read, and stained-glass windows which will let the library open a large space. They won't have any shutters, flexible curtains. Due to it people can see all the interiors with books», - noted А.Abzalov.

The various activities for children will be organised in the library which will allow the kids to distract from the reading and just rest. For example, there will be a climbing wall here.

Rezeda Ismagilova, the director of the municipal libraries network, told about the unusual ideas of the space decoration. «There will be so called «book labyrinths» with double illumination. Also we want to exhibit books about ship-building history in the hall for creative works. We are even forming the fund of books connected with this topic», - told R.Ismagilova.

The Mayor of Kazan noted that such approach can be reflected on the future of young readers. «Any person who reached success started with children's interests. Who knows, somebody will become a big ship builder of Kazan, Tatarstan, Russia», - said I.Metshin.

The Mayor of the city also enquired about the reading books in Kazan. According to words of the director of library network, the amount of readers is constantly growing. On the average, in year the library is visited about by 3 thousand children and 1,5 thousand grown-ups. «The status of the book has been changed yet. Today primarily the parents have a great interest to develop their children through reading, and also the youth is interested in books. Since 90s the system of values has been changed, now there is respect to reading people, it is felt strongly», - noted R.Ismagilova. In the future the experience of the organisation of modern libraries is planned to be transfered to the other Kazan libraries.

Sergey Mironov, the head of the Kirovsky and Moskovsky districts, and Marat Samigulin, the head of the Capital Construction and Reconstruction Office, also attended the meeting.
