The Mayor of Kazan inspects the new snow cleaning equipment at the Gorvodzelenkhoz

The company purchased snow loaders, sweeping and cleaning equipment, a tractor and other vehicles

The Mayor of Kazan Ilsur Metshin inspected the new special equipment purchased by the Municipal Unitary Enterprise Gorvodzelenkhoz. In total, the city park of winter cleaning equipment of four general contracting enterprises, taking into account subcontracting organizations, is 589 vehicles. Today they employ 560 drivers and 798 road workers.

The shortage of drivers and road workers is one of the main problems during the winter season. The head of the city noted that this is caused due to the construction of new roads. To date, the area of the roads being cleaned is about 22.2 million square meters, of which almost 4 million are sidewalks. By the end of the year, due to the commissioning of new sections of roads and sidewalks, it will increase by 570 thousand square meters.

“The main problem is the lack of drivers and road workers. Now, they are engaged in the construction of new roads. In addition, every year new roads appear– the Voznesensky Tract, the extension of the Gorkovskoye Highway, the section of the Big Kazan Ring on Mekhovshchikov Street. When we marked the millennium of the city the area of the cleaned roads was 12 million square meters, today it is almost 23 million. A little more and it will be possible to say that we have doubled,”- the head of the city noted.

Igor Kulyazhev, Deputy Head of the Kazan Executive Committee, told Ilsur Metshin that 50 more road workers who had previously been employed on road construction were involved in two weeks. The head of the city noted that it is a common practice when workers come to enterprises after the season.

“We had 502 workers, in two weeks we employed another 50 people. These are the ones who worked on the construction of roads. We hope to employ about 200 road workers and drivers,”- Igor Kulyazhev reported.

Ilsur Metshin noted that residents most often complain on cleaning of sidewalks. The director of the Municipal Unitary Enterprise Gorvodzelenkhoz Roza Zabbarova said that there is a large and mini-equipment in the company. Last year, four sand spreaders were purchased for cleaning sidewalks, as well as icebreakers, manual rotors, marble crumb spreaders.

The head of the city talked with the workers during the inspection of the equipment. He thanked them for the work they do every year and wished them good luck in the new season.

“The team is ready, the managers know their job. However, any new winter will depend on our well-coordinated work. We remember the 2010s and the past years, when Kazan and the republic had a half-month snowfall rate in one day. I hope that the snow season will be such that we can clean everything up,”- Ilsur Metshin said.
