The Mayor of Kazan Ilsur Metshin inspects the readiness of cleaning vehicles for summer season

To date, about 60% of vehicles have been re–equipped and have already started cleaning city roads after the winter.

In Kazan, street-cleaning vehicles is being prepared for the summer season. 369 cleaning vehicles, most of which work year-round, as well as 316 road workers are involved in road cleaning. At the moment, about 60% of vehicles have already been re-equipped, they have started cleaning the city after the winter. Today, the Mayor of Kazan Ilsur Metshin has visited the Municipal Unitary Enterprise Gorvodzelenkhoz, where he inspected the readiness of cleaning vehicles and talked with employees of the enterprise.

On April 1, a two-month period of sanitary cleaning and landscaping of the city territory started in the capital of Tatarstan. By May, contractors will have to improve roads with a total area of 22 million square meters, including 4 million square meters of sidewalks. “Cleanliness is a trademark of Kazan. We like to see clean streets and blooming flowers. We will work together in April, and by the May holidays we will make the city beautiful,”- Ilsur Metshin said.

The fleet of Gorvodzelenkhoz includes 147 vehicles. In the new season, the company will employ 189 workers, 67 drivers and machine operators. The Mayor talked to one of them. The driver Almaz Zaripov from the Alekseevsky district has been working at the Gorvodzelenkhoz for the sixth year, the company has provided him with a room in a hostel. “The salary is good, about 50-55 thousand rubles in summer, and more in winter. We work in two shifts: from 7:00 to 16:00 and from 21:00 to 6:00,”- he said. Almaz Zaripov also thanked the city administration for the new equipment, which makes it comfortable to work and make the city cleaner in any season.

“We have lack of drivers, but we are working in this direction and plan to attract workers, improving their working conditions,”- said Igor Kulyazhev, deputy head of the Executive Committee of the city.

In total, 369 cleaning vehicles (53 vacuum and sweeper machines, 139 water-washing machines and 177 other equipment) will be involved in the summer season for maintenance of Kazan roads, of which 331 vehicles are used all year round. The vehicles are also checked and repaired if necessary.

Today, 251 vehicles are ready for the summer season. “Last year it snowed in April, so we reserved part of the vehicles in case of unforeseen circumstances,” Igor Kulyazhev told the head of the city.

Now workers are already washing roads and fences in the morning, as well as removing dirt along the curb stones.

In addition, during the two–month period cleaning of green areas will be carried out at public spaces, forest belts and coastal zones. Special attention will be paid to putting in order the territories of industrial enterprises, retail facilities, a network of gas stations and others. The Mayor of Kazan called on district administrations, the property management companies, enterprises and organizations, social institutions and residents of the city to join the cleaning activities.

For reference, the period of winter maintenance of the road network will end in the capital of Tatarstan on April 15. Last season, an average of 475 cleaning vehicles and 622 road workers were involved daily. During the winter, 938 thousand tons of snow were removed from the streets of Kazan.
