Kazan citizens are invited to the exhibition in honor of the 200th anniversary of the Tatar religious figure and scholar.
The exposition includes memorabilia, documents, manuscripts, and books, kept in collections of the leading scientific institutions of Kazan. All of them tell about the main periods of life and work of Sh. Mardzhani at the pedagogical, theological, and research areas.
For the first time, documents from the State Archive of the RT will be on display for everyone: about his service in the Starokamennaya Mosque of Kazan and the Kazan Tatar School, including the metric book of 1863-1903. The National Museum of the RT provided a writing cabinet, a travel trunk, books from the library of S. Mardzhani, a photograph of him in 1874, and a personal seal made of rock crystal, created in Istanbul in 1864-1865.
The department of rare manuscripts and books of the Lobachevsky Scientific Library of the KFU and the Archive of the Institute of Language, Literature, and Art named after G. Ibrahimov of the Academy of Sciences of the RT will show manuscripts and lifetime editions of the scientific works of the “Tatar Herodotus”, as the contemporaries called him. Kazan citizens will see a two-volume fundamental work on the history of the Tatar people “Mustafad al-ahbar fi ahval Kazan va-Bulgar” (“Information about the History of Kazan and Bulgar”), said the organizers.
