Almost 500 thousand people have visited summer events in parks and squares of Kazan

During the season, about 500 concerts, tours, meetings and other events were organized in public spaces.

Over the past summer season, about 520 events were held in public spaces of Kazan. They were visited by more than 480 thousand people. Aigul Latypova, the head of the Directorate of Parks and Squares of Kazan, reported about this today at the Business Monday Meeting.

The Mayor of Kazan Ilsur Metshin noted that over the past five years the parks' area of the city has increased by 1.5 times. Presently, the directorate manages 29 public spaces with a total area of 301.5 hectares. "Parks are a great platform to bring our main priorities to the residents, among which is sustainability and a healthy lifestyle",- the Mayor said.

This year, the new project "School of a novice dog breeder" was introduced. During the summer, two courses of classes were held in the Black Lake Park and the Gorkinsko-Ometyevsky Forest, which were conducted by professional dog handlers and veterinarians. Forty-five Kazan citizens took part in the project.
For the first time in the city, park swaps were held for adherents of sustainable consumption. On the boulevard on Fuchika Street, residents of the city could exchange belongings they didn't need: clothes, books and flowers.

On Sundays, open talks with coaches and psychologists were held in the Black Lake Park, as well as on the Kazanka River embankment, the Kaban Lake embankment, at the Kazan Family Center. One of the memorable events was the performance of the orchestra of the Kamal Theater in the Black Lake Park, which was attended by more than 2 thousand Kazan residents. Even more people – over 4 thousand people attended a holiday dedicated to the fifth anniversary of the Directorate of Parks and Squares of Kazan in Gorky park.

A landmark event for young people was the street art festival on AkChachaklar Boulevard where teenagers created and painted various objects under the guidance of experienced painters.

Another remarkable event was a stand-up evening in July in the Black Lake Park. Within a month, 24 young comedians, together with members of the Kazan Stand Up Club, were preparing to perform on
stage in the park.

Since the beginning of July, concerts, film screenings, DJ performances and excursions have been held on the main pedestrian street of the city. More than 3 thousand people attended sports and creative classes in the Tatar language of the Kharakatte – barakate project.

The embankment of Kaban Lake has become a  popular location this summer. Yoga and crossfit classes, film screenings, master classes and excursions were organized here.

As part of the implementation of the Kazanka Development Strategy, the directorate organized about 30 environmental and sports events. Fifteen ideas were proposed in the city laboratory Citizen-Scientist,
among them – the creation of environmental infrastructure centers on the Kazanka and the holding of an e-car festival.

"Of course, we will not stop here. We need to constantly keep abreast and listen to the wishes of residents and tourists",- the Mayor stressed. I.Metshin noted that the city is constantly increasing with new public areas.

It is worth noting that colleagues from other cities were actively interested in Kazan's experience in managing parks and squares. A.Latypova noted that 250 delegations from various regions of Russia and other countries visited Kazan.

"We studied to manage the parks of the city in an intensive mode, there was no advanced experience at that time. By its fifth anniversary, the directorate has become a platform where colleagues from other cities come to study the experience. We are ready to help and share our experience with everyone. Besides, we continue to upgrade our skills in order to improve Kazan in all sectors of the urban economy", - I.Metshin concluded.
