“English courses are an opportunity for citizens to help foreign guests navigate the streets, public spaces of the city, talk about sights and recommend to try national dishes”, explained D. Sannikova. Also, the lessons will provide grammar in short form for primary and secondary levels, she added.
Many courses were held for hospitality staff while preparing for major events in Kazan, but the residents are widely involved in this work for the first time, said Evgenia Lodvigova, the first deputy head of the Kazan Municipality. “A culture of direct dialog with residents for a variety of reasons is formed in the city. We see that there are many people with an active life and civic attitudes among the citizens, and this is a huge value for our city”, she said. “In addition, the experience of holding major international events shows that many residents have a great desire to participate in them. Everyone knows that Kazan friendliness, noted during the Universiade and all subsequent major events, is a merit of not only the organizers and volunteers, but also thousands of citizens who helped the guests. We look forward to feedback in this case as well”.
Each participant of courses will be awarded a memorable badge, added D. Sannikova in conclusion.
