L. Andreeva: “City economy of Kazan has significantly improved”

The deputies of the Kazan City Duma held visited the treatment facilities and one of the “Vodokanal” snow-melting points.

(KZN.RU, January 18, Mikhail Chentsov). Significant changes in the direction of improvement are noticeable in the sphere of urban economy of Kazan. This opinion was expressed by the deputies of the Kazan City Duma during the visiting meeting, which included a visit to the sites of the MUP “Vodokanal”. Lyudmila Andreeva, the deputy head of the Kazan Municipality, Igor Kulyazhev, the deputy head of the Executive Committee and the chairman of the Committee for External Improvement, Iskander Giniyatullin, the deputy head of the Executive Committee and the chairman of the Housing Committee, and deputies of the city council visited the treatment facilities of the capital of Tatarstan and the most powerful snow-melting point in the city.

First were the cleaning facilities. Andrey Egorov, the director of the MUP “Vodokanal”, conducted a tour of the facility for deputies. He reminded them of the measures that are designed to eliminate the technological smell. Decisions on the need to eliminate the problem were taken by the President of the RT and the Mayor of Kazan. The project, developed last year, provides covering 25 technological structures with removable caps.

“We plan to complete the work and put the facility into operation in the summer. At the present time, 20-25% of the total work is done”, said Andrey Egorov.

The deputies noted that this solution will have a positive impact on the ecology of Kazan and the health of the citizens. After all, not only residents of the Privolzhsky district but also other parts of the city are affected by the smell.

Andrey Egorov also spoke about the facility's plans to build a shop for the thermal recovery of sludge. The project is financed at the expense of the “Vodokanal” funds. The product obtained after a heat treatment can be used for reclamation of quarries and for the pouring of solid domestic waste. The construction of the workshop is scheduled for 2018.

The deputies highly appreciated the activity of the enterprise, which solves many issues through active work with investors without budget funds.

Then the participants of the meeting moved to the Prospect Pobedy where a snow-melting point, subordinated to the “Vodokanal”, located. In total, the company operates 6 points with a total capacity of 4 thousand 800 tons of snow per day. The snow melting point “Pr. Pobedy”, built in 2011, is the most powerful of them (1 thousand 800 tons/a day). Its distinguishing feature fr om the others is 3 snow-melting cameras instead of one. Lyudmila Andreeva noted that a few years ago, Kazan was choking on the snow because there was only one snow-melting point in the city. Today, this problem is in the past.

Summarizing the results, L. Andreeva expressed the general opinion of the deputies who were impressed by the objects they saw. “We went to these two sites because they have a big impact on the ecology of the city. We saw that the Executive Committee is taking real steps. We saw that the city economy has advanced significantly, and the “Vodokanal” is constantly upgrading its facilities. The most problematic object of the city economy in all cities is the “Vodokanal”, sewerage, water purification, air purification. I am glad that this work is very progressive in our city”, L. Andreeva concluded and thanked the company's employees for the hard work.

The meeting was held in preparation for the XXIII session of the Kazan City Duma wh ere it is planned to consider the issue “About the results of the Year of Ecology in Kazan”, announced by Rustam Minnikhanov, the President of the RT, in 2017.
