The performance of the trio Mariam Merabova, Eteri Beriashvili, and Ekaterina Balykbaeva ended the festival of improvisational music.
(KZN.RU, August 24, Alsu Safina). The XII International Festival of Improvisational Music “JAZZ in the Kremlin” with Olga Skepner ended in Kazan. Yesterday, well-known vocalists, participants of television show projects Mariam Merabova, Eteri Beriashvili, and Ekaterina Balykbaeva accompanied by Armen Merabov's Miraif project performed at the stage in the Cannon Court of the Kazan Kremlin.
As Olga Skepner, a musicologist, jazz vocalist and music director, opened the concert. She said that all three singers are her dear friends, and the musicians playing instruments are stars: Petr Ivshin, Anton Gorbunov, Manuk Gazaryan, and Artur Gazarov.
Numerous audience gathered to listen to a trio of these vocalists amazing on vocal and positive energy this evening. Neither the cool evening weather nor the belated beginning of the concert did not affect the atmosphere of this holiday. The first part of the concert passed in one breath. It rightfully can be called the culmination of the next season of Kazan's favorite festival.
In different years, both Mariam Merabova and Eteri Beriashvili became participants of the summer jazz festival and performed in Kazan before on different venues. Ekaterina Balykbaeva came to Kazan for the first time. All three singers with such different styles have their fans in the capital of Tatarstan that with special interest and impatience waited for the concert program with an unusual name “My Hens”. As the vocalists told, yesterday's performance at the Kazan festival was the first one in their tour. Earlier, Mariam Merabov, Eteri Beriashvili, and Ekaterina Balykbaeva performed together only in Moscow.
“It is a great honor to conclude this year's festival. Talented musicians performed before us, all of them are dear and beloved. Especially in the walls of the Kazan Kremlin. I adore Kazan and I love the city with all my heart”, said Mariam Merabova.
Journalists asked them about why it was decided to name the program that way. The singers started explaining their funny versions at the same time: “We will cackle”, “Do not listen to anyone! When we start talking, it’s like the henhouse!”.
“To be honest, being a serious adult is ugly, it's boring and it's far from the truth, and the truth is natural”, believes Mariam Merabova. “We are absolutely natural, happy with the opportunity to be together, we love each other”. According to Mariam Merabova, they have known each other for many years. And 10 years ago, they united in one jazz project, and since then they have been working together. “We are people of one kind. We laugh at the same things, reacting to the same thing. We love and feel the same way”, said the singer.
Before the concert, Mariam Merabova said that they want to share greater creative happiness with the audience. “To find like-minded people in your work, it's worthless. Each of us is a creative person, and it only helps in what we’re doing”, she said.
“We have combined the creative and musician maturity of each of us and what we love. We want to make “bridges”, when the language faces are blurred, and the music stylistically sounds in the same context we feel”, said Eteri Beriashvili and Mariam Merabova. “The most important thing is the mix of three crazy energies. When we are together, this triple energy flies into the hall”, added Ekaterina Balykbaeva.
It seems that all the audience felt this powerful energy, listening to the performances. They performed original works and many famous compositions in the original arrangement. Mariam Merabova, Eteri Beriashvili, and Ekaterina Balykbaeva sang this evening not only in Russian and English, but also in French, Italian, Portuguese, Georgian, and Spanish.
