(KZN.RU, March 7). Cirque du Soleil will bring to Kazan their first ice show Crystal. Residents of the city will be able to see a new performance of the world-famous circus on December 19-22 at the Tatneft Arena.
In the show Crystal, the Cirque du Soleil explored the possibilities of ice and brought the highest standards for the acrobatic performance to the unknown territory. In the production, synchronized figure skating, freestyle and extreme figure skating go hand in hand with circus disciplines: air straps, trapeze, and ground acrobatics.
Crystal, the main character of the show, goes on a desperate journey that will change a lot and help her understand herself. Together with Crystal, viewers will fall into a world where heroes are craving for adventures, and the dream becomes not an escape from reality, but an opportunity to approach it.
An international group of figure skaters, extreme speed skaters, freestylers, acrobats and musicians from 11 countries works in the production, said the organizers.
The creative team includes directors of the show Shena Carroll (nominee for the Drama Desk award, choreographer for the special performance of Cirque du Soleil at the Oscar 2012 ceremony) and Sebastien Soldevilla (director of the first part of the opening ceremony of the Olympic Games in Sochi). Kurt Browning, the four-time champion of Canada and the world in men's single skating, was the senior choreographer who staged performances with the participation of figure skaters. The choreographer was Benjamin Agosto, five-time US champion in ice dancing and Olympic silver medalist.
During the Russian tour, the show Crystal will be held in Moscow, St. Petersburg, Kazan, and Yekaterinburg. The schedule will include another city in time.
