Kazan citizens will get acquainted with the culture of the Mongolian Empire and the Golden Horde

About 600 exhibits will be presented at the exhibition at the center “Hermitage-Kazan”.

(KZN.RU, March 19). On April 3, the exhibition center “Hermitage-Kazan” will host the exhibition “The Golden Horde and the Black Sea Region. Lessons from the Chinggisid Empire”. It introduces the culture of the Mongol Empire, but mainly the culture of Ulus Juchi (Golden Horde), the largest nomadic state in Western Eurasia.

The exhibition presents the equestrian and urban culture of the Mongol nomads, feast vessels, jewelry, and costumes. An important place is given to the details of the architectural decor and samples of Buddhist painting of the Turkic-Mongolian East. Monuments of the numismatics of the Golden Horde give an idea of the development of monetary affairs and the monetary policy of one of the largest Mongolian states of the XIII-XV centuries.

In total, the exhibition features about 600 items from the collections of the State Hermitage Museum, the State Historical Museum, the Astrakhan Historical and Architectural reserve-museum, the Central Museum of Tavrida, the Bakhchisarai Historical, Cultural and Archaeological reserve-museum, the Feodosia Museum of Antiquities, the Yalta Historical and Literary Museum, and the State Inspection Historical and Cultural Heritage of the Voronezh Region, the Foundation for the Support and Development of Scientific and Cultural Programs named after Sh. Mardzhani, the National Historical Museum of Belarus.

The curators of the exhibition are Mark Kramarovsky, the leading researcher of the Department of the East, and Anastasia Teplyakova, a researcher of the Department of the East of the State Hermitage Museum.

Working hours of the exhibition: Tuesday-Thursday, Saturday, and Sunday from 10 am to 6 pm (the ticket office is open until 5.30 pm); Friday from 11 am to 8 pm (the ticket office is open until 7.30 pm). Monday is a non-working day, reports the center “Hermitage-Kazan”. The exhibition will run until October 6.
