Kazan student Zulfat Garayev became the winner of the European Weightlifting Championships

The athlete set a new European record in the snatch -144 kg.

A student of the Kazan school of Olympic reserve Zulfat Garayev became the winner of the European Weightlifting Championships. The tournament takes place in Bucharest, Romania.

The strongest athletes of 15-20 years, as well as U-23 athletes from the European countries participate in the competition. Zulfat Garayev represents the Republic of Tatarstan as part of the Russian national team in the weight category up to 67 kg. The weightlifter in the snatch and jerk in total got a result of 314 kg, which helped him to win the gold medal of the European competition. Moreover, in the snatch, the athlete set a new European record-144 kg.

The Ministry of Sports of the Republic of Tatarstan notes that Z.Garayev from 2016 to 2018 won three awards of the European Weightlifting Championships - gold, silver and " bronze. The current victory in Bucharest brought him the fourth prize in competitions of this level.
