Kazan school student Renat Karimov takes first place at the V European Junior Olympiad in informatics

One hundred and seven children from 30 countries competed for the victory.

Rinat Karimov, a student of the 8th grade of the Lobachevsky lyceum of Kazan Federal University, became the winner of the V European Junior Olympiad in informatics as part of the Russian national team. The school student took the absolute first place and was awarded a gold medal.

The competition was held from August 24 to 27 online, 107 participants from 30 countries competed for the victory, as well as 64 people hors concours.

Among the Russian team were schoolchildren under 15 who showed their knowledge at the All-Russian Olympiad in computer science. The competitors underwent in-depth training and selection at the training camps. According to the results of the Olympiad, Russian schoolchildren won four gold medals, becoming the leader in the number of highest awards.

The Olympiad was held in two rounds. The participants demonstrated skills in informatics and ICT (information and communication technologies) and completed six algorithmic tasks.

“I solved problems every day, and before the Olympiad – sums of previous years. Despite the fact that there were summer holidays, I had a desire to compete, so I did my best,”- the KFU’s Press Office quotes Renat Karimov.

The computer science teacher of the highest qualification category, Honored Teacher of the Russian Federation, People’s Teacher of Tatarstan Sergey Mikhailin, trained the student for the Olympiad. This is not the first victory of Renat – this academic year he also became the winner of the final stage of the All-Russian School Olympiad in informatics.
