The intellectual competition gathered 39 teams from Russia, Belarus, Uzbekistan, Tajikistan, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, and Mongolia.
(KZN.RU, August 6). Kazan schoolchildren became winners at the XII All-Russian Open Olympiad of young geologists. The intellectual competition took place from July 26 to August 5 in Berdsk (Novosibirsk region). It gathered 39 teams from 29 regions of Russia, as well as Belarus, Uzbekistan, Tajikistan, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, and Mongolia.
Two teams represented the RT at the competition: “Fersman” and “Geobars”. The team “Fersman” included Kazan students of the KFU IT lyceum and the school №93 of the Sovetsky district. For 10 days, children demonstrated their knowledge in paleontology, geology, radiometry, hydrology, geological routes, and much more. Together, they managed to take third place in the team competition. The “Fersman” became the champion of the VI Republican Open Field Olympiad of young geologists this year.
Another Tatarstan team “Geobars” also included Kazan students; they won in individual competitions. Thus, the first place in the hydrology tournament was taken by the eighth-grader Veronika Sharafutdinova and the ninth-grader Boris Vasiliev from the Kazan school №7 of the Novo-Savinovsky district, reports the press service of the Ministry of Education and Science of the RT.
