Ak Bure hockey team became the silver medalist of the All-Russian tournament "Golden Puck" for the first time

Ilsur Metshin, the Mayor of the city, awarded young players, coaches and the management of the Ak Bure sports complex at the City Hall.

Today, the honoring of the Ak Bure hockey team – silver medalists of the All-Russian Golden Puck tournament took place at the Kazan City Hall. The Mayor of Kazan Ilsur Metshin awarded the young hockey players with letters of thanks.

“It is a special day for all of us. Thanks to your hard work, as well as the support of your parents and coaches, you will always remember this day. For us, you are the winners! For the first time, young hockey players from Kazan have won such high awards. I wish you victories and the highest achievements in future”, - I.Metshin addressed the participants of the ceremony.

The Mayor of Kazan thanked the coaching staff, parents, and the management of the sports school, as well as hockey players. “This sporting triumph is very important for the popularization of hockey and a healthy lifestyle. In recent years, about ten ice rinks have been built in Kazan. Thanks to this, the city has all necessary conditions to practice hockey”, - he said.

The award ceremony took place in several stages: the young players received letters of thanks from the Mayor. In addition, honorary diplomas of the city were awarded to director of the FSO “Ak Bure” Pavel Nikulin, deputy sports director of the FSO “Ak Bure” Gulnara Magdieva and coach of the team Rafael Akhmetov.

The Ak Bure hockey team was established in 2017. Young athletes took part in many competitions and became multiple prizewinners and winners of the championships of Kazan and the republic of Tatarstan.

For reference, in the city stage of the Golden Puck tournament with over 2 thousand participants, the team took first place and entered the republican stage. In the final of the republican competitions, Kazan hockey players won again, and qualified to the next stage of the tournament, where they fought with eight teams. As a result, after six matches without a single defeat, the Ak Bure team took first place and made it to the final part of the competition.

The final stage of the “Golden Puck” tournament among the boys born in 2007-2008 took place in Perm in May. Kazan hockey players met with the strongest teams from the Vladimir, Volgograd and Amur regions. In a difficult struggle, the team took second place and became a silver medalist. “This result was achieved after hard training throughout the season under the guidance of coach Rafael Akhmetov and with the support of the Kazan Mayor’s Office, as well as Tatarstan Ministry of Sports”, - said Pavel Nikulin, Director of the Ak Bure.

The Golden Puck is an All-Russian hockey tournament among youth teams, which was established in 1964.
