In 2020, more than 51% of Kazan residents regularly engage in sports. 10 years ago, this number was 18.7%. “We strive to increase the number of Kazan residents who regularly engage in sports and lead a healthy lifestyle. This is one of the main tasks for us”, - Ilsur Metshin, the Mayor of Kazan, said today at the Business Monday at the Executive Committee of Kazan.

According to Albert Salikhov, chair of the Committee of Physical Culture and Sports, at the end of last year, the Tatarstan Ministry of Sports awarded the best representatives of the sports industry in the region. Kazan was traditionally nominated in many categories. “I would especially like to note that Kazan won in the nomination “The best city of the republic of Tatarstan for the training of sports reserves and the development of basic Olympic sports” among cities with a population of over 100 thousand people”, - Albert Salikhov said.

In addition, for the first time since 2014, Kazan was awarded the title of “Leader of Ready for Labor and Defense project” for achieving the best indicators and dynamics of development. The city was solemnly handed over the flag of the All-Russian sports Complex “Ready for Labor and Defense”.
