The participants of the event represent 40 cities from 23 countries.
The Annual General Meeting of the LUCI (Lighting Urban Community International) Association, as well as the Tartu Festival of Architectural Lighting and Lighting Art, takes place in Tartu (Estonia) from October 27 to 30. More than 200 designers and urban architects, representatives of municipalities – members of the association, as well as manufacturers of lighting equipment from 40 cities in 23 countries discuss new trends and modern technologies in outdoor lighting. Representatives of Kazan and Kazenergo Company take part in the business program.
Ruslan Galiakhmetov, head of the Department of International and Inter-Municipal Relations of Kazan, shared the experience of the capital of Tatarstan in urban lighting. He spoke about the organization of architectural illumination of buildings and tourist sites in Kazan, the project of reconstruction and illumination of the lake Kaban, as well as about urban lighting projects implemented under the Our Yard program.
For reference, LUCI Association is the international network of cities in urban lighting, created in 2002 at the initiative of the City of Lyon (France). Today, the LUCI bring together over 70 member cities worldwide that use light as a tool for social, cultural and economic development. It also includes more than 40 associated members from the lighting industry, design agencies and research institutes.
LUCI annually holds one of the oldest festivals of light in the world – the Festival of Light (Fete de la Lumiere) in Lyon. This event offers cities, as well as lighting professionals from around the world, a unique site to discuss new forms of creative lighting.
Kazan joined the LUCI Association in 2021, and next year it can take the baton of the World Festival of Light.
