Kazan will host an international ice hockey tournament for men and women teams

Athletes from the OIS countries will compete at the tournament.

The capital of Tatarstan will host an international ice hockey tournament for men and women teams. Over 300 athletes and representatives of the countries of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation will take part in the tournament.

Hockey players from 13 countries including Bahrain, Saudi Arabia, UAE, Morocco and Turkey will compete for the victory. The competition will be held from January 14 to 18. The Sports Palace will be the main venue of the tournament, some matches will take place at the Tatneft Arena Ice Sports Palace.

The tournament is aimed at strengthening sport ties between Russia and the OIC countries. The competitions are held by LLC SCE Tatneft – Ak Bars and ANO DPO “Kazan International Institute for Cooperation with Countries of Africa and the Middle East”, the Press Office of the Tatarstan Ministry of Sports reports.

The First Summit of the Islamic Hockey Association – Kazan Summit Cup 2023 Islamic world – the future of ice hockey will take place during the tournament. As part of the official program, an agreement will be signed on the foundation of the Islamic Hockey Association, as well the election of its President. In addition, business sessions will be held at the summit with the participation of representatives of the Tatarstan Hockey Federation, the Ak Bars Academy and the Ak Bars sports school, the Tatarstan Center for the Development of Adaptive Sports, as well as hockey clubs of Tatarstan.
