The capital of Tatarstan will host the 2021 European Short Course Swimming Championships.
Kazan will host the 2021 European Short Course Swimming Championships and the 2024 FINA European Swimming Championships. The decision was made today at a meeting of the Bureau of Ligue Européenne de Natation (LEN) in Glasgow.
During the meeting, Kazan has presented a bid to host two championships. Members of the LEN Bureau solid voted for the capital of Tatarstan as the host of the next European Short course Swimming Championships in 2021, and also supported the city's bid for the 2024 FINA European Swimming Championships.
According to LEN President Paolo Barelli, Kazan has become a real home for water sports. “We are pleased to hold both events in Kazan, as in recent years the city has become the home of water sports, where our athletes are guaranteed the highest standards. Kazan hosted a number of major swimming events, including the 2015 FINA World Swimming Championships and this summer the European Youth Championships, which were outstanding. Kazan has the world-class facilities and an experienced team of organizers, today the Federation cannot wish for more”, - Paolo Barelli said.
