Kazan claims to be included in the UNESCO Network of Creative Cities

The city public is invited to discuss the draft application of the capital of the RT.

(KZN.RU, May 21). Kazan claims to be included in the UNESCO Network of Creative Cities. Kazan cultural figures and the creative community are invited to join the discussion of the draft proposal. The meetings will be held from 22 to 28 of May in children's art schools, cultural centers, libraries, and the Kazan City Philharmonia.

The methodical center of children's music school №4 prepared the draft application in the direction of “music”. In the course of its discussions, it is planned to consider questions about the role of culture and musical creativity in the development of Kazan, as well as proposals for holding events under the auspices of UNESCO, if the capital of the RT is recognized as a creative city.

The cities included in the Network promote their development strategies through the creative sector, implement significant projects and programs in their areas, and also work closely with each other to share experiences and enhance the effect of joint activities. When joining the UNESCO Network, cities are committed to sharing their best practices and developing partnerships with the participation of the public and private sectors, as well as civil society.

The network of creative cities of UNESCO operates since 2004. Currently, it has 180 cities in 72 countries. From December 2015, Ulyanovsk represents Russia in the direction “literature”.

Anyone interested can attend the meeting to discuss the application for entry into the UNESCO Network of Creative Cities. The schedule of meetings in the municipal cultural institutions of Kazan can be found on the website.
