On July 10, a unique ethnographic expedition “Burlatsky on the Volga. Roads of Maxim Dmitriev” will arrive in Kazan under the auspices of the Russian Geographical Society.
Photographer and member of the RGS Misha Burlatsky, together with assistants and a film crew of a filmmaker Alexandra Andronova, will pass from the source to the mouth of the Volga along the route of the famous photographer Maxim Dmitriev from Nizhny Novgorod. The task of the film crew is to capture the natives of the Volga region and make a documentary about it. The shooting will take place for three days in Kazan and one day - on the island of Sviyazhsk with the support of the “Cinema Time” directorate.
On July 14, as part of the “Cinema Time at the Lake Kaban” project and the “KinoSreda” project, a meeting with the film expedition team will take place on the embankment of the Lake Kaban. The guests will answer questions from the audience and talk about the difficult, but very exciting shooting process. In addition, the audience will be presented with a documentary film by Marina Razbezhkina “Optical Axis”, also telling about Maxim Dmitriev. Admission to the film screening and creative meeting is free.

Photo exhibitions and presentations of the film will be held in autumn 2021 at the headquarters of the Russian Geographical Society in St. Petersburg and Nizhny Novgorod, in the exhibition venue of the Volga Shipping Company. Then the documentary will be handed over to Russian distributors for festival promotion and film distribution.
