Carnival night, disco party and Tatar New Year: activities for Kazan residents on New Year’s holidays

A series of events has been prepared for residents of the city and tourists – the events will be held at the Kazan Family Center

A series of New Year's events will take place at the Kazan Family Center in January. A carnival night, karaoke with Soviet songs, a disco party, a children's performance and much more are organized for residents and tourists.

Deputy Head of the Kazan Department of Culture Emil Mustafin informed about the program of events. He reminded that on December 26, the main New Year’s tree opened at the Kazan Family Center – now the site is operating as a New Year's fair. On December 31, Kazan residents will be able to celebrate the New Year on the site, and in January thematic events will take place on the main city New Year’s site.

“On 1 January, we will remember Soviet New Year's movies and sing our favorite songs. On January 2, the Carnival Night event will be held, where artists of the original genre, including the Ruslan Rimanas Theater, will perform, and on January 3, we invite you to dance with us to retro music of the 80s, 90s and 00s,”- the speaker said.

Kazan residents will be able to celebrate the New Year in Tatar style on January 5. Ilgiz Shaikhraziev, Malsi Music and other famous Tatar performers will take the stage this evening. The children's play of the Railway Workers' Recreation Center will be shown on January 6, and on January 7, Kazan residents are invited to Russian festivities. “Together with the folklore groups of the city, we will celebrate the Russian New Year and lead round dances. And on January 13, we are celebrating the old New Year,”- announced Emil Mustafin.

For the first time, a van “Catch the Dragon” will run through the streets of the capital of Tatarstan from January 2 to 5. It will drive to several locations and will create a mood together with the Dragon, who will hold games and give gifts. It will be possible to monitor his movement on the social networks of the Department of Culture.

Kazan residents will be able to participate in the competition and win an instant printing camera. “You will need to take a picture with the Dragon, and publish the picture in the Telegram channel of the Department of Culture. We will announce the winner on January 6 at the Kazan Family Center,”- the speaker shared.
