The renovation of some buildings will continue in 2025
More than 80 architectural sites have been restored for the BRICS summit in the capital of Tatarstan. The reconstruction of some buildings will continue next year, as was announced at a briefing held in the Tatarstan Cabinet of Ministers.
The restoration of the historical center and its buildings was carried out by the Committee for the Protection of Cultural Heritage Sites of Tatarstan in collaboration with the Kazan Mayor’s Office. The participants of the summit highly valued the restored monuments.
The cracks in the brickwork, the roof and façade, as well as architectural lighting were renovated in the Kazan City Hall. They workers replaced the copper roofing, utility networks, gutters, and water pipes, and restored the parquet flooring and doors of the main entrance.
Kazan-1 railway station building was also renovated for the BRICS Summit, where walls were plastered and painted, stucco decorations in the interior rooms were renovated, and engineering systems were redeveloped and adapted.
The Kazan Kremlin has renovated the Northern Building, the Junker School, and the Syuyumbike Tower. Waterproofing, strengthening of the foundation and brickwork, stitching of cracks, cleaning and repair of defects in the brickwork of the facade were carried out in the Tower.
The next stage of work is planned for 2025, which provides for the strengthening of floors and stairs, the restoration of floors, windows, forged metal elements of doors and gates.
The roof of the main building at the Kazan Federal University were repaired and facades were updated. Workers also restored metal canopies and porch railings.
Facades of the Kazan State Medical University buildings were also brought into proper condition.
The historic appearance of the three front doors on the main facade of the KNITU-KAI building was restored.
The Printing House on Bauman Street was reconstructed, the doorways were restored, and the premises were decorated.
The building of the Alafuzovsky Theater was opened after the renovation. Emergency response work was carried out at the facility, engineering systems were adapted, the facade and roof were repaired, and the interior was restored.
This year, the restoration of the temple to fallen soldiers on the Kazanka River has been resumed. The development of solutions for the construction of a pedestrian bridge, a berth for mooring small vessels, and a parking lot for buses is underway.
Ivan Gushchin, Chairman of the Tatarstan Committee for the Protection of the Cultural Heritage Sites, also reminded the restoration of the Al-Marjani and Novo-Slobodskaya mosques.
In 2025, the Tatarstan Committee for the Protection of the Cultural Heritage Sites will consider the construction of external engineering networks and landscaping of architectural monuments. It is planned to continue restoration in the historical quarter of Rakhmatullina and Profsouznaya streets, in the Piskunov house, the building of the Noble Assembly hotel, the Novo-Sloboda Mosque.
