150 guides were trained to the World Cup in Kazan

They will present the capital of Tatarstan to the guests in ten languages.

The preparation of the city for the arrival of foreign guests for the World Cup is finishing in Kazan. 150 guides with knowledge of foreign languages were trained in the capital of Tatarstan. Starting from June 1, additional information geo-dome tents will start working in the city.

Sergey Ivanov, the head of the State Committee for Tourism of the RT, noted during the briefing in the Cabinet of Minister of the RT that the improvement of the urban infrastructure for tourists is coming to an end. Museums are being upgraded with signs in foreign languages, the city navigation is updated in three languages: Russian, Tatar, and English. Additional navigation will be introduced in the city for the period of the championship. There will be plaques explaining how to get to the stadium “Kazan Arena”, buses, shuttles, the Fan Festival site, and to the main sights of the city.

Special attention is paid to the work with guides. For today, 150 guides have been trained in Kazan. They will be able to tell guests about the cultural and historical heritage and also help with other important information. According to S. Ivanov, the guides of Kazan will be able to speak with the guests in Farsi, French, English, German, Chinese, Spanish, Italian, Korean, Turkish, and Arabic.

More than 100 volunteers who also speak foreign languages will work from June 1 in information geo-dome tents, which will be installed in the city. Tents will be available from 9 am to 9 pm. Updated maps and guides in foreign languages with full information about each match that will be held in Kazan, fans festival, places of food, etc., are being prepared for them.

“There will be 6 matches in Kazan, a big fan zone will be organized. However, many guests will come not for the matches but to see the city, “hang out” with fans from different countries. We are waiting for about 200 thousand tourists at this time. We are trying to prepare the city for all these guests as much as possible today”, said S. Ivanov. Many Kazan cafes and restaurants will prepare special menus for the championship with national dishes of the participating countries of the championship and will train employees to speak foreign languages.

The World Cup will be held from June 14 to July 15. Kazan will host six matches of the group stage, 1/8 and 1/4 of the finals.
