Experts evaluated the activities of 88 regional capitals’ mayors and major financial and economic centers of the Russian Federation.
Kazan Mayor Ilsur Metshin was ranked first in the National Mayor’s Rating for August-November 2020. The research was conducted by the “Rating” center for information communications together with the Financial University under the Government of the Russian Federation.
Moscow Mayor Sergey Sobyanin was ranked second in the rating. The top five also includes the Mayor of Tyumen Ruslan Kukharuk, the Mayor of Khanty-Mansiysk Maxim Ryashin and the Mayor of Salekhard Alexey Titovsky.
The election of Ilsur Metshin as head of the capital of Tatarstan for the fourth time contributed the leadership in the National rating.
Experts also point to the Mayor's international standing. Ilsur Metshin, President of the UN Advisory Committee of Local Authorities, remotely participated at the UNECE Forum of Mayors 2020.
“The Mayor of Kazan Ilsur Metshin, heads the city for 15 years, and its position as one of the leaders among the mayors of Russia is well established”, – experts noted in the study.
For information, Kazan regularly becomes the leader of numerous ratings. The Mayor of Kazan Ilsur Metshin headed the media rating of the heads of capitals of the Volga Federal district for September 2020. In addition, at the end of last year, Kazan was recognized as the best city in Russia in terms of living standards.
